PULLMAN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — An investigation is being launched by the Michigan State Police (MSP) after a Pullman resident died while resisting arrest, MSP officials reported Wednesday.
Police say that just after 7:00 a.m., a deputy with the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office and a trooper with the Michigan State Police Wayland Post were dispatched to an address on North Avenue in the village of Pullman on a report of a domestic disturbance.
After contacting the male suspect, later identified as 40-year-old Nathan Strample, officers attempted to take him into custody and were met with considerable resistance.
Police say that during the struggle to arrest him, officers observed that he was no longer breathing and life-saving measures were attempted. Despite life-saving measures by involved officers and Life Care, Strample was unable to be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Michigan State Police Special Investigations Sections from both the Sixth and Fifth Districts, along with the MSP Laboratory and Reconstruction Unit, are investigating the circumstances of Strample’s death.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
