DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Detroit Pistons have the seventh overall pick in tonight’s NBA draft. The pick is the highest for Detroit since 2010 when they took Greg Monroe in the same spot.
Guards Tyrese Haliburton, Killian Hayes or R.J. Hampton may be the choice for the team at number seven.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have the number one pick and could take LaMelo Ball or Anthony Edwards with the first selection. Minnesota is followed by the Golden State Warriors, Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers. The Atlanta Hawks, Pistons, New York Knicks, Washington Wizards and Phoenix Suns round out the top-ten.
Instead of in-person at the Barclays Center, the draft will be based virtually at ESPN’s headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut.
Rumors are swirling ahead of the NBA Draft and free agency involving some of the league’s biggest stars. Reports state James Harden wants out of Houston, while The Athletic reports the Rockets and Wizards have discussed a Russell Westbrook-for-John Wall swap.
The Boston Celtics and Gordon Hayward are reportedly extending the deadline for the forward to make a decision on his $34.2-million player option.
