UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM) – The fourth of six weeks of high school football action is on tap for this evening … with now two exceptions.
At 6:40 PM, hear the Zeeland West-Holland contest from Ray & Sue Smith Stadium with Greg Chandler on 99 7 and 1450 WHTC. Other match ups include: Holland Christian at West Catholic; West Ottawa at Grandville; Muskegon at Zeeland East; and Coopersville at Hamilton.
Yesterday, Fennville Public Schools issued the following statement via Facebook: “Due to injuries that have led to an extremely low number of healthy players, we are canceling our varsity football game in Constantine scheduled for 10/9/2020. We understand the frustration that may come from cancellation this close to kickoff, but player safety is number one and we feel we would be compromising their safety by attempting to play this game.”
The game is being considered a 2-0 forfeit win for the apparently upset Falcons, who made this statement, also on Facebook: “Our Friday Night Football Game & Senior Night has been cancelled. Fennville has decided not to come our direction Friday Night, and we have been unable to find a replacement team. We will take their forfeit and let bodies rest and be back at it next week at (Kalamazoo) United!”
This afternoon, Saugatuck High officials cancelled the scheduled game against visiting Delton Kellogg after two COVID 19 cases were confirmed this morning, with “considerable contact tracing,” according to Coach/AD Bill Dunn.
