MINNEAPOLIS, MN (WTVB) – The Detroit Tigers begin their final week of play with a two-game series against the Twins in Minnesota tonight.
Tarik Skubal gets the start in the opener for Detroit with Casey Mize taking the mound tomorrow.
The Tigers are in fourth place in the Central Division with a 22-and-30 record.
Fifty Tigers prospects will continue training next month at the TigerTown complex in Lakeland, Florida. Vice president of player development David Littlefield said the five-weeks of instruction will begin October 1 and include workouts and scrimmages.
With the Minor League season cancelled prospects have been shut down unless they were part of Detroit’s 60-man roster or on the taxi-sqaud in Toledo. The players will be joined in Lakeland by around 20 coaches and Covid-19 protocols will be in place during the training.
