HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A new eatery is now open at the Heeringa Holland Civic Center Place.
The “Smoke’n Tulip” opened last Saturday for evening dining, and on Wednesday, the restaurant featuring dishes mostly prepared through a smoking process began offering lunches. Up to 72 patrons can eat either in the outside porch of the renovated facility or in the Community Atrium at the main east entrance of the building.
According to Executive Director Chris Hart, the eatery is seen as a way to recoup some of the revenue lost as a result of COVID 19-related closures, but whether this is a long-range commitment by Civic Center Place operator VenuWorks remains to be seen. “We’re at this point in time, obviously, feeling it all out to see how it’s accepted,” he said on “WHTC Morning News” during a Thursday appearance. “If it goes (well), then we have another decision to make, whether we cordon off a certain area of the property to be the restaurant, and the rest we do events.”
The “Smoke’n Tulip” hours are 11 AM to 2 PM and 5 PM to 8 PM on Wednesdays through Saturday.
