HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Firefighters are periodically called to rescue cats from trees. Just before 8:30 p.m. Sunday Aug. 9, 2020, they were called to rescue someone who’s parachute got tangled in tree branches.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies worked with Grand Haven Township firefighters and a North Ottawa Ambulance crew to rescue the sky diver, according to Sheriff’s Sgt. Nicholas Knott.
Emergency responders, summoned to 15080 Coleman in Grand Haven Township, found the skydiver — who was not identified by gender or age in the Sheriff’s Office statement emailed to media — entangled in the branches of a large tree, about 75 feet above ground.
The Grand Haven Township firefighters used climbing gear and a ladder and free the person without anyone being injured.
The skydiver suffered no injuries when falling into the tree’s branches, police said.
