WASHINGTON (WHTC-AM/FM) – Just what is taken into account when a school district is “equitable?”
WalletHub, the online financial advisory arm of Evolution Finance, recently took a look into this issue on a nationwide scale, gauging the average household income and expenditures for public elementary and secondary schools per pupil to find out where school funding is distributed most fairly.
In Michigan, the Colfax Township district between Traverse City and Manistee was the most equitable, while Covert was the least among the 527 districts canvassed. Among the Lakeshore districts, Fennville was tops in equitably at 16th, followed by Holland at 145th, Zeeland at 209th, Hamilton at 220th, West Ottawa at 230th, and Saugatuck at 471st.
Overall, Michigan was 22nd national in the WalletHub survey.
