HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — It’s orange cone season and most people would agree it is, at best, frustrating.
But road work is no reason to cut through construction zones.
Ottawa County Road Commission spokesman Alex Doty tells WHTC, as tempting as it is to find a shortcut through a construction zone — don’t.
“There’s legal implications for cutting through and using parking lots as detours,” he said, adding, “You’re also putting people in some of those side neighborhoods at risk, if you drive through at a high rate of speed. You could be putting children at risk.
He emphasized the importance of using designated detours for each route, which sends traffic to roads that can handle extra traffic.
