SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — While most summer festivals and events are canceled this year, one in South Haven will still take place, just a scaled-down version.
Organizers announced that the 57th annual National Blueberry Festival will still run from August 6th through the 9th; however, there are a number of canceled events due to coronavirus concerns.
For example, there will be no live music, no pie eating contest, and no beer tent.
Festival goers can still enjoy the following events still taking place:
- Farm Day: Visit local growers for various blueberry products and U-Pick opportunities on Friday, August 7th.
- DeGrandchamp Farms Postcard Perfect Photo Contest: Host your own contest and submit your pie-eating video or photo to the festival’s Facebook page.
- Kid’s Scavenger’s Hunt: Get your clues online or in-person and have fun exploring South Haven for answers. First 150 entrants get prize bucket.
- Virtual 5K Race & Kid’s 1K Race: Register online and get cool gear!
- Blueberry Vendors: Under the Pavilion in downtown South Haven on Saturday, August 8th.
- Visit The National Blueberry Festival booth: At the Huron Street Pavilion on Saturday, August 8th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Organizers are reminding visitors to follow all of Michigan’s safety protocols including handwashing and proper sanitation, social distancing, and face coverings for those who are able to wear them.
The press release states that while the festival is being downsized this year they plan on “roaring back in 2021.”
