HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The founder and executive director of Escape Ministries in Holland, Pastor Willie Watt, resigned earlier this month, according to the organization’s ministry director, AJ Westendorp, who also runs the career connections efforts.
Other than Westendorp’s mention of the resignation during a Wednesday, July 15, 2020, interview with WHTC.
Other than his comment, and the board’s undated announcement, posted on the ministries’ webpage, little has been shared publicly; nothing is on social media. The board statement says they are “saddened to report that we have accepted the resignation of Pastor Willie Watt as Executive Director of Escape Ministries. We want to thank him for his many years of service.
“The Escape Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers ask for your prayers and continued financial support as we move forward fulfilling the mission of Escape; building relationships, opportunities and resources that matter for youth and their families who often fall through the cracks of society.”
No notices were shared on Escape’s social media pages. Watt, who started Escape Ministries 12 years ago, said last month during a social justice demonstration in Holland that he’d faced continued discrimination in Holland, despite creating two ministries.
WHTC has messaged Watt and others for details on this story.
