HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — National Weather Service meteorologists in Grand Rapids are predicting the possibility of pop-up storms until 5:15 p.m. today, Thursday, July 9, 2020.
While most are expected east of U.S.-31, and not expected to be severe, they could produce cloud-to-ground lightning, small hail, wind gusts up to 40 mph, and very heavy downpours.
These storms will not move very fast, and could cause some ponding of water on roads and in low lying areas at time.
Drivers may encounter hydroplane situations or reduced visibility. Drains may not be able to accommodate excesive amounts of rainfall in short periods; drivers should avoid those areas.
