HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Three people were hurt when a driver, going too fast for conditions, couldn’t negotiate a sharp curve on Ransom Street, near Hallacy Drive, Tuesday, June 30, 2020.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash scene just after 7:30 p.m., and learned a 53-year-old Holland Township man was driving north on Hallacy Drive. He tried turning onto Ransom Street. But he was going too fast, police said to negotiate the sharp curve onto Ransom, which sent the car off the road, where it rolled into a field.
Neither the driver, nor the 53-year-old man in the front seat, had been wearing seatbelts, and both were ejected by the force of the crash. A second passenger, a 57-year-old Holland Township woman in the backseat, had been wearing a seatbelt and suffered minor injuries, police said.
The two men went to Holland Hospital via AMR ambulance, where they were listed serious condition.
While police say speed was a factor in the crash, alcohol does not appear to be.
