HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland Department of Public Safety officers are investigating a series of auto thefts.
“No one in custody, and we are not releasing vehicle descriptions at this point,” Holland Police Capt. Keith Mulder told WHTC.
Police discovered the latest incient after being dispatched to a report of a hit-and-run crash, near 870 Chicago Drive at 5:45 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2020.
While looking for the suspect vehicle, police spotted three vehicles leaving the Elhart Hyundai dealership at 800 Chicago Drive. Officers attempted to stop the trio as they fled to the east, but stopped pursuit nearM-6 into Kent County.
Other officers discovered the break-in at the dealership and determined the three vehicles had been stolen.
Two of the three vehicles were recovered later Monday morning, in Kent County.
Police believe this incident is related to one in which two vehibles were taken from the Crown Motors Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership, at 1127 Central Ave.
One of those vehicles has since been recovered in Grand Rapids. It is also believed these incidents are related to other recent stolen vehicles from dealerships in Ottawa County and the Grand Rapids/Kent County area.
Also on Monday, June 22, 2020, Sheriff’s deputies responded to the breaking-and-entering just after 5:30 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2020, at European Autohaus, 1890 112th Ave., in Holland Township. A vehicle believed stolen from that dealership, was recovered a short time later in the City of Grand Rapids.
Holland Police Detectives are investigating these incidents, and working closely with other West Michigan law enforcement agencies.
