ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Another aspect of “Heal the Zeel” can now be seen in downtown Zeeland.
City officials announced on Friday the installation of an interactive “button board” public art initiative at the corner of Main Avenue and Elm Street. It’s a wall-shaped, temporary exhibit made up of red and white “campaign-style” buttons, half of which have the motto “Heal the Zeel,” which the city has used as a spin on its “Feel the Zeel” promotional branding campaign created to promote hope during the COVID 19 outbreak. The other half of the bottons are adorned with a red heart and Zeeland’s signature “Z!”
Patrons are encouraged to pick one of more of these buttons to wear in support of the “Heal the Zeel” initiative. “As we see activity and energy return with each new phase of Michigan’s ‘Safe Start’ Plan, we see the ‘Heal the Zeel” campaign continue to deepen,” said city Marketing Director Abby deRoo in a statement.
The city put up a similar button board two years ago to “Think the Zeel,” an effort “challenging people to express how they make a conscious effort to turn their love for Zeeland into intentional actions,” deRoo explained.
