HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A 77-year-old man from Wells, MN, was trapped in semi-tractor trailer after a rollover crash caused by Wednesday’s storms, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Derek Gerencer.
The crash happened at the height of one round of storms, at 11:49 a.m. June 10, 2020, near 7564 Quincy St. in Zeeland Township. Police said the man was driving the semi east on Quincy, with an empty load. A strong crosswind caused him to lose control of the semi, sending the truck rolling into the ditch on the north side of the road. The driver had been wearing a seatbelt and wasn’t hurt, but he was trapped in the cab of the truck until Zeeland Township firefighters extricated him. National Weather Service records show wind speeds at 59 mph at the time of the crash.
