SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Dealing with downtown flooding and accommodating the return of business activity are among the items that the Saugatuck City Council will be going over late this afternoon.
During a 4 PM virtual work-study session, the panel gets an update on progress towards a flooding mitigation plan. Scott Herbert goes over work slated for the intersection of Water and Lucy streets, the Spear Street Boat Launch area, the Wick’s Park restroom building, and the south end of Butler Street, with a total estimated overall initial cost of $37,400, plus labor and equipment for Department of Public Works.
In addition, City Manager Kirk Harrier will brief Council members on requests for downtown businesses to use street parking places in front of their establishments for “pop-up patio-type activities,” as well as asking that some downtown streets be closed for activities. Harrier also discusses some complaints the Allegan County Health Department received about the placement of picnic tables outside of restaurants in the city.
No votes will be taken during today’s Saugatuck City Council work-study session, with a link to the agenda, supporting documents and how the public can attend and participate in the video conference here.
