HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The weekend rain — which is expected to continue thorugh Tuesday, May 19, 2020 — has caused the National Weather Service to issue a flood warning.
Ottawa County Emergency Manager Nick Bonstell has declared a local state of emergency to assist in coordinating resources for those affected.
People will find inland flooding as well as flooding along the Grand River in area of Robinson Township through Sunday, May 24.
The Grand River is expected to crest around 14 feet later this week, according to Bonstell.
He urged residents to take measures to limit any damage to their property from flooding.People severely affected can make an assessment online at https://arcg.is/1OiPrHAs of 1 p.m. Sunday, the Grand River USGS was reading 12.7 feet. County drains andsmaller creeks are very full and have heavy flow.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- • Expect standing water in low lying and flood prone areas.
- • Expect flooding near the Grand River to begin this weekend and into early next week.
