HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A 21-year-old Kentwood man was hurt in a traffic crash just afer 8 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2020, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Nicholas Knott.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s investigators learned that a 2010 Jeep, with a 21-year-old Kentwood man at the wheel, had been headed north on US31 near James Street when he failed to stop for traffic backing up at the intersecton signal.
The Jeep hit a 2010 Triumph motorcycle, that had been slowing for the red light.
The impact threw the motorcycle operator, also a 21-year-old Kentwood man, into the median. He was wearing a helmet, and went by AMR Ambulance to Holland Hospital for treatment of what police called non-life-threatening injuries.
The Jeep’s driver went to Ottawa County Jail on suspicion of operating under the influence of alcohol.
The crash remains under investigation.
