HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A single-car crash has killed 43-year-old Holland Township resident LaSondra Leffler, according to Holland Police Capt. Keith Mulder.
It happened just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at the intersection of Eighth Street, near Dartmouth Avenue.
Holland police and firefighter found a Dodge Nitro hit a utility pole before rolling against a tree. The crash knocked down power lines.
Police say Ms. Leffler was a front-seat passenger in the car, with a 66-year-old woman at the wheel and a 64-year-old man in the back seat. The Nitro had been westbound on Eighth, police believe, but drifted off the road into the curb, which started the crash.
The driver was airlifted to Spectrum Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids. The man went by ambulance to Holland Hospital.
Investigators belive excessive speed is a factor in the crash. Witnesses told police they did not see any other vehicles in the area. The investigation continues, as police are trying to determine if other factors affected the driver.
