SALEM TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a traffic crash in Salem Township left one dead Tuesday.
Just after 5 p.m., police were called to a report of a traffic crash on 30th Street near 144th Avenue. A 27-year-old female from the Byron Center area was traveling eastbound on 144th Avenue when she failed to stop at the two way stop sign, colliding with a northbound semi-tractor trailer.
The impact caused her Jeep to become lodged under the trailer.
First responders on scene found that she was deceased due to the injuries sustained from the crash. The driver of the semi-tractor trailer was did not receive any injuries.
Preliminary investigation revealed that disregarding the stop sign was the only factor in the crash.
The deceased female’s name is being withheld until her family is notified.
