Zeeland’s Farmers Market is set to start running in downtown Zeeland on from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., starting May 23 and ending Sept. 26, 2020. This market will be at the Elm Strreet Park, at the corner of Elm and Cherry streets.
“Farmers Markets have continued to grow in popularity and with Zeeland being surround by farmland, it is a wonderful opportunity for locals to obtain fresh products directly from the farm,” said Kerri VanDorp, Zeeland’s event coordinator.
The Zeeland Farmers Market will allow consumers to have access to locally grown produce, meats and plants. Under Governor Whitmer’s Executive Order 2020-77 Farmers Markets are considered an essential service. Zeeland Farmers Market rules:
- The market will have one entrance and exit to maintain capacity limits.
- Proper social distancing (keeping at least 6 feet apart) is required.
- Anyone who has been sick (or lives with someone who has been sick within the last 14 days), is asked to not visit the market.
- People are asked to wear a mask while at the market.
- Market visitors are asked to limit trips to one person per family.
- Visitors are asked to wash their hands when entering/leaving the market — a hand-washing station is provided.
For now, sampling is prohibited, as are non-essential sales, such as any crafts. Capacity at the market will also be regulated, and could cause a line at the entrance.
People interested in being a vendor at the market will find applications and details at www.feelthezeel.com.
