Allie May (Toering) Meyer, 85, of Bentheim, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at SKLD in Zeeland.
Allie May was born March 30, 1935, in Grand Rapids, to Henry and Johanna (Koenes) Toering. She graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High School and later married Gerard J. (Jerry) Meyer on August 14, 1954. Allie May and Gerard raised their four children in Bentheim, were members of Bentheim Reformed Church, and worked together running their family excavating business. With her children, she and Jerry enjoyed their cottage on Big Star Lake for many years. In their retirement years, they built their dream home.
In 2000 Jerry preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: William Toering, Grace Toering, and Norine (June) Ulberg.
She is survived by her children: Karl Meyer of Holland, Kraig and Cindy Meyer of Bentheim, Kevin and Gigi Meyer of Bentheim, Karen and Kurt Goresch of Grand Haven; eight grandchildren: Tony (Katie) Meyer, April (Jay) Chapledaine, Jeremy (Jaime) Meyer, Heath (Ashley) Meyer, Gina (Ross) Schutter, Mavis (Pierce) Szubelak, Kyle (Brittney) Goresch, Krystal (Trevor Miller) Goresh; 12 great-grandchildren: Desiree Carroll, Jayelynn Kerr, Ares Meyer, Wyndalynn Meyer, Cora Meyer, Elena Meyer, Claire Meyer, Garhett Meyer, Rylan Schutter, Sadie Schutter, Mila Szubelak, Norah Goresch; brother Jake and Gloria Toering, many nieces and nephews.
A family service will be held at Bentheim Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bentheim Reformed Church Youth Group.
