UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM) – A limited number of Lakeshore voters will be asked to cast ballots on Tuesday.
In Ottawa County, six school districts have yanked proposals off of the May 5th ballot – Coopersville, Hamilton, Holland, Jenison, West Ottawa and Zeeland. Two other districts – Grand Haven and Hudsonville – are keeping their 18-mill non-homestead tax renewal question on the ballot, while those in eastern Ottawa County who live in the Kenowa Hills school district will decide on a 67 million-dollar bond proposal.
In Allegan County, the Hopkins school district is asking for a 1.6-mill increase to create a sinking fund for building, security and technology improvements; Otsego schools want to issue nearly 23 million dollars in bonds for improvements at Otsego High; and residents in the far northeastern corner of the county who live in the Caledonia Community school district have to decide on an 88 million-dollar bond proposal and an 18-mill non-homestead tax renewal.
Voting by mail for this election has been authorized by Governor Whitmer, but in-person voting from 7 AM to 8 PM is still available. Those who wish to cast ballots in this way are asked to contact their township or city clerk office ahead of time to see where they can do this safely in their community.
