HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Farmers and gardeners, take note: The National Weather Service has issues a freeze warning, from 11 p.m. Tuesday, April 21 through 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2020.
The warniing stretches from the top of Muskegon County to the bottom of Van Buren County, and to the eastetrn edges of Ken and Kalamazoo counties.
Temperatures could fall into the mid 20s — and, in some areas, to the low 20s — overnight.
Some fruit trees will start to experience damage after several hours of temperatures 25 degrees or colder.
The chill comes from an unseasonably cold and dry airmass arriving as clouds scatter out and winds diminish this evening.
Sensitive vegetation could get damaged without protection. Potted plants normally left outdoors should be covered or brought inside away from the cold, according to meteorologists in the NWS Grand Rapids office.
