ALLENDALE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Those interested in applying to Grand Valley State University next year will not be required to submit standardized test scores.
GVSU president Philomena Mantella announced on Friday that the university has made applications “test-optional” for prospective students applying to enroll during the fall of 2021.
That decision was made to make applying easier for students, as many high schools struggle to coordinate SAT and ACT tests because school buildings are shut down for the remainder of the academic year.
A released statement says that Grand Valley admissions coordinators will use a holistic approach to review applications, which involves considering grade point average, transcripts, and answers to questions on the university’s application.
Students interested in submitting ACT, SAT and other standardized test scores can add the material for consideration.
The university website states that all applicants admitted to GVSU by December 31 will be considered for merit-based scholarships, even if they have not supplied test scores to be reviewed.
University leaders are considering whether to extend the option to graduate students currently required to take the GMAT and GRE.
