UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM) – The last thing that many people need right now with the COVID 19-related restrictions is weather-related problems.
Unfortunately for those who have property along the Lake Michigan shoreline, the erosion problem that has been evident since last summer isn’t going away because of the pandemic. A Lakeshore Flood Warning through 5 AM on Tuesday is just exacerbating crumbing roads, dunes and structures. Allegan County Board Chairman Jim Storey of Holland says that help from Lansing on this matter is on the proverbial back burner.
“There (aren’t) any state resources available right now for that; it’s all directed towards COVID 19,” Storey said during a Friday interview on “WHTC Talk of the Town.” “We aren’t losing sight of what needs to be done, and it may be an issue where we have to return to it with great energy when this pandemic comes under control.”
In addition, weekend tornadoes and storms in the South have led to state of emergency warnings being issued in Louisiana and Mississippi.
