HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — All MAX Transit standard bus routes will be suspended until further notice, according to Barbara Sonnerville, a finance assistant for the bus service. (Listen to the full interview.)
Reserve-A-Max rides may still be scheduled by reservation only, by 4 pm. the day before the trip, she said, but only for passenger to get to work, a medical appointment or the grocery store “to get essential products.”.
The MAX business office will be closed to visitors, though the lobby will remain open. Office hours will be 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
She said it’s unclear how people will travel if they are unable to get Reserve-A-Max service, but need to make an urgent or essential trip. She said it’s unclear wherther Two-Way Tuesday rides from Allegan County will be operating.
Reserve-A-MAX will run regular hours.
MAX drivers will see their hours dropped. They’re being assigned to two groups: Team A and Team B, she said. Team A will work normal hours from March 18 – April 1. Team B will take over from April 2 until April 15, “but all the this is fluid,” she said, depending on response needed for the changes related to the COVID-19 pandemic..
“Everyting is subject to change. Yesterday was a different thing,” she said.
All busses are being cleaned with antibacterial wipes, she said. The number of passengers per bus will be reduced and those aboard will be asked to sit as far apart as possible, she said.
“If anybody is showing any symptoms of the COVID-19 virus, we are asking them not ro ride with us,” she said. “we want to keep everybody as healthy as we can.”
Asked if there’s anything else the public needs to know, she said, “Do not go out, unless it is absolutely necessary.”
