HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland police are investigating a stabbing that happened just before 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020.
Police were summoned to the 200 Block of W 15th Street and found the victim, a 32-year-old Holland man, and the suspect, a 45-year-old Holland man, had gotten into a verbal argument. Both the suspect and victim rent different rooms in the residence from the landlord.
Investigators collected statements from both parties, but Capt. Robert Buursma said those statements are not clear as to what started the argument, which turned into a physical altercation, at which point the suspect picked up a knife and cut the victim.
The victim went by ambulance to Holland Hospital for treatment for what police called “two minor lacerations.” The suspect, taken into custody at the scene, is now in the Ottawa County Jail.
Police believe alcohol is a factor in the incident.
