HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A 52-year-old woman and 60-year-old man, both Muskegon residents, were hurt Tuesday when their vehicle crashed into a semi-tractor-trailer, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s authorities.
The crash happened on westbound I-96, near the 14-mile marker — two miles west of Coopersville. Police found that the semi-truck driver, a 32-year-old man, had slowed to turn into an “authorized vehicle only” median crossing, intending to go east on I-96. As he was slowing on the highway, his semi was hit from behind by a 2011 Chevrolet Impala, which the Muskegon woman at the wheel.
She and the Impala’s male passenger went by ambulance to a hospital for evaluation of their injuries, which Sheriff’s Sgt. Matt Wildfong said are not considered to life-threatening.
The driver of the semi truck received a ticket for using the median crossing.
