HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — If you happened to be listening to Ottawa County’s police dispatch chatter on Friday, you learned that Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brent Converse retired after 25 years of full-time service.
He started working for the county as a reserve officer in 1992, then got hired full-time by the OCSD in February,1995.
He worked as a school resource officer, then as a community police officer, working in Holland and Park townships.
He was named 2009 Deputy of the Year, and promoted to community police sergeant in 2011. He left, as officers frequently do, without media coverage of the farewell party.
But, as is the case with police officers and firefighters, their official departure is marked with a special broadcast on the police-dipatch radio channel. Listen to it here: whtc.com/podcasts.
