HOLLAND (WTHC-AM/FM) — Holland’s International Relations Commission plans to bring greater international perspective to the community by again simulcasting this year’s World Affairs Council sessions.
Great Decisions is America’s largest discussion program on world affairs. The 2020 program provides background information and policy options for the eight most critical issues facing America each year and serves as the starting place for community conversations.
The sessions will be broadcast at Holland City Hall from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesdays, between Feb. 10, 2020, and March 31, 2020. Beverages are provided and the session are free — attendees can bring their own lunches.
This year’s eight topics:
- De-escaling nuclear build ups between India and Pakistan
- The Philippines under Duterte
- Regional Security in the Red Sea
- Justice in the Face of Climate Change
- Human Trafficking
- Artificial Intelligence and National Security
- China’s Road into Latin America and
- Central American Immigration and U.S. Foreign Policy
City officials are planning to host a separate event in Holland featuring the speaker on immigration, Sonia Nazario. The Pulitzer-winning journalist and author of “Enrique’s Journey” will address the question “Is there a humane solution to immigration at the Southern border?”
