HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony (ACEH) will host a program “The Intersection of Race and Gender” at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, at the Holland Museum, 31 W. 10th St. in Holland.
The event is free and open to the public.
Sonja Trent-Brown, Hope College’s Chief Officer for Culture and Inclusion, and associate professor ofpsychology at the college, will be the speaker. The program is part of the museum’s current exhibit THEM: Images of Separation, which includes artifacts and materials from the Jim Crow Museum of Racist Memorabilia in Big Rapids.
Trent-Brown has received numerous research grants and awards, including the student-selected Hope Outstanding Professor Educator Award in 2012 and recognition from the Acoustical Society of America for excellence in student mentoring. Her undergraduate degree is from Harvard/Radcliffe and her master’s and Ph.D. from the University of South Florida.
