HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland Museum will host, as part of a larger effort to examine race and culture, a panel discussion on ways to achieve equality in health care, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020.
The panel of health and policy specialists will discuss how disadvantaged people experience healthcare disparities in delivery, quality and accessibility. They’ll explore racial, ethnic, and sexual-orientation inequities which exist in the presence of disease, health outcomes, and access to care.
The panel will also talk about ways to achieve health equity. Charles Baker, Priority Health’s Medicare compliance officer, will moderate the conversation. The panel:
- Lisa Knight, Vice President and Chief Program Officer Urban League of West Michigan
- Jay Knight, MSN, BSN, RN, Chair Healthy Pride Inclusion Resource Group Spectrum Health
- Shannon Wilson, Director of Medicaid Services Priority Health
Ricki Levine, the museum’s executive director, said she extended invitations to State Rep. Mary Whiteford and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to attend the event, in light of Whiteford’s recent criticism of Whitmer’s plan to reduce implicit bias in healthcare through training.
This event is free; donations would be appreciated. Learn more about Holland Museum at https://hollandmuseum.org.
