HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A Kent County jury found Holland resident James Chance, 77 and a retired Illinois police sergeant, guilty of trying to help his son cover up Ashley Young’s murder in Grand Rapids.
The jury spilt on two perjury charges, acquitting him on one but unable to reach a verdict on the second, according to a WOOD-TV report.
Chance faces a maximum six months in jail when he’s sentenced. His son, Jared, is serving a 100-to-200-year sentence for killing Young and mutilating her body in late 2018.
Barbara Chance, James Chance’s wife and Jared’s mother, last week entered a no-contest plea to the same charges as her husband. She set to be sentenced next month.
