GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 50-year-old Kentwood woman was hospitalized after a single-vehicle crash near Jenison High School on Saturday evening.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Derek Gerencer didn’t disclose the name of the motorist after he and other first responders were dispatched to the area of 20th Avenue and Bauer Road shortly after 6 PM. It appears as if the northbound motorist failed to stop her SUV at the stop sign, drove through the T-intersection, went down a embankment and struck a small barn about 150 feet from the roadway. A LIFE EMS crew took the woman to an unnamed hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Gerencer added that alcohol “does appear to be a factor in this crash,” which remains under investigation.
