HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Vice President Mike Pence has a very busy day ahead during his visit to West Michigan.
The chairwoman of the Michigan Republican Party, Laura Cox, says Vice President Pence will meet privately with faith and community leaders, and community activists. Pence was in Michigan twice earlier this year, but hasn’t visited Holland since 2016.
“The Vice Presdient is a Midwesterner,” Cox said. “He’s just a wonderful man, he’s a great leader, and he’s very approachable. You know, I think if people have the opportunity to hear him speak and meet him, I think that’ll be time well spent.”
Pence’s visit to Holland is part of a bus tour that includes Portage, capping the visit with a political rally in Grand Rapids featuring Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
Cox emphasized the Republicans’ success in 2016 in Michigan, including retaining what she called a “very strong” representation in Lansing.
But not everyone is happy with he vice president’s visit. One group is making plans to be near one of Pence’s stops with Huckabee-Sanders, a campaign leadership training events set at 215 Central Ave. late Wednesday afternoon.
