COVERT TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — This week the Covert Public Schools Board of Education voted to fire their superintendent after they were placed on administrative leave for two months.
Board members voted on November 18th to terminate Covert superintendent Bobbi Morehead after unspecified allegations of criminal activity led her to be investigated by Covert Township police.
Morehead had previously been hired for the role in 2013. She had been on administrative leave since September prior to her termination, and had two more years remaining on her contract with the district.
During the November 18th meeting, the Covert Public School Board named Yolanda Brunt as the district’s interim superintendent.
Board President Rita Perry said in a released written statement that Brunt will remain in the role until they find a permanent replacement.
Police have not specified or commented on the allegations against the former superintendent, but say that the investigation is expected to wrap up before the end of the year.
Morehead was officially relieved of duties on Tuesday, November 19th.
