HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A 21-year-old Plainwell man was rushed to the hospital after an early-morning crash Sunday, according to Allegan County Sheriff’s authorities.
Deputies were called to the scene of the crash shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, and found the the victim had been using a phone with headphones plugged in.
The crash happened at 102nd Ave. near 13th St. in Otsego Township. Police said the vehicle had been westbound on 102nd and rhe driver switched to the eastbound lane to give the pedestrian room, but the man attempted to cross the road and the driver couldn’t avoid hitting him, according to police.
Police from Otesgo and Plainwell, as well as Otsego firefighters, and Plainwell EMS assisted deputies at the scene.
Neither alcohol nor speed are believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
