ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a crash involving a pedestrian sent one victim to an area hospital early Sunday morning.
Police say that around 1 a.m. Sunday, officers were called to the area of 102nd Ave. near 13th St. in Otsego twp. in response to the pedestrian-involved collision.
Police say the vehicle in question was traveling west bound on 102nd Ave. The driver of the vehicle said that he saw a small light on the north side of the roadway and assumed it to be a pedestrian walking along the shoulder. The driver then moved over to the other lane to give the pedestrian more room.
However, the driver then saw the pedestrian crossing the roadway in front of the vehicle, resulting in the crash.
Neither alcohol nor speed are believed to be factors in the crash. Police located a phone with headphones plugged into it near the victim. An accident reconstruction investigator from the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene and the crash remains under investigation at this time.
Meanwhile, the victim was identified as a 21-year-old from the Plainwell area. The victim was transported to an area hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
