HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Distracted driving led to serious injuries for a 32-year-old Spring Lake man just after 6:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, 2019, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Christie Wendt.
Investigators learned the man was headed east on Apple Drive with a 5-year-old female passenger, when he got distracted by his phone, and crossed the center line. His vehicle hit a westbound vehicle in the front driver’s side quarter panel Wendt said.
The crash pinned the Spring Lake man in his car. He was extricated by Spring Lake Township firefighters, and went by AeroMed to Spectrum Health Butterworth with serious injuries.
His passenger, and the driver of the second car, were not seriously injured, police said.
