HOLLAND (WTHC-AM/FM) — The Cowardly Lion sculpture, set to be delivered Sept. 1, 2019 — then last Friday, then Saturday, is here. The sculpture was installed Monday on the north side of Herrick District Libary, 300 S. River Ave., Holland.
He is the second-to-last piece of the the art installation that stretches from the the library to the southwest corner of Centennial Park, across the street, connected by a brick road.
The final piece for the installation — which is already drawing a fairly steady stream of visitors — is a 12.5-foot “Fighting Tree” with one of the flying monkies hanging off one of the branches, according to Sally Laukitis, executive director of the Holland Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Holland Area Convention and Visitors Bureau officials joked that he was just “too cowardly’ to make the trip. Now, they can concentrate on the big event: A ribbon cutting set for Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019. Details on the ribbon cutting are expected this week.
