HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Distracted driving is being blamed for a single-vehicle crash that sent a 19-year-old Holland woman to the hospital, just after 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019.
Police found the driving had been westbound on I-196, just west of 32nd Avenue in Hudsonville, when she got distracted, glancing out her side window, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Christie Wendt said in an email to media.
The driver realized the car was drifting to the north side of the road, and overcorrected, losing control of the vehicle, which went off the south side of the road, rolling into the median, landing on its roof. She had been wearing a seatbelt, and was extricated by Hudsonville firefighters.
The driver went by Life Ambulance to Metro Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries, Wendt said.
