Evelyn Wright, age 72 of Holland, passed away on September 8, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. When Evelyn and her future husband Lyle went on their first date, there was a spark between them that neither could deny. Lyle acted on that spark and proposed marriage to Evelyn on that very first date. They would go on to share 53 years of marriage together. As a family, Evelyn and Lyle would take many trips, including camping with their young family, and later to the Bahamas, Key West, and to Hawaii as a belated honeymoon. She was a loyal University of Michigan fan, and could often be found cheering on her favorite wolverines when they played women’s softball and college football. She was on a bowling league for many years, and her skills took her to many tournaments, including to Indianapolis. Her family will cherish memories of Evelyn’s cooking, including her famous apple slice dessert. Above all, family was incredibly important to Evelyn, and she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be dearly missed. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Viva Atwood, brother Lewis Atwood Jr., and father-in-law John Wayne Lackey. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Lyle Daughters: Sheri Wright, Tammy and Andrew Riksen, Lori and Robert Frost Grandchildren: Derek, Ashley, Jeremy, Michael, Emilee, and Kylie Great-grandchildren: Finn, Presley, Maddison, and Alexis Brothers and sisters: Eleanor and Wayne Wright, Donna Crane, and Frank and Deb Atwood. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at 12:00pm, at Lakeshore Memorial Services in Holland. Celebrant Glenn Aittama will be officiating.
