HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Jared Chance, the former Holland resident charged in the murder of an Oshtemo woman, was set to go to trail Monday.
Ashley Regina-Marie Young’s remains were discovered in December last year, in the basement of a Grand Rapids home where the accused had been living.
Chance faces several charges, including open murder and body mutilation, minimum 31 years sentencing recommendation if he pleads guilty to second-degree murder and gives a full confession.
Prosecutors gave him until Monday, when his murder trial is set to begin in Ketn County, to accept the deal.
Should Chance reject the deal, his trial would proceed. Should be be convicted of first-degree murder, he’d face a mandatory life-without-parole sentence. Some of Young’s remains are still missing.
Ashley Young was missing for days before some of her remains were discovered, but all of her remains have not been recovered.
