HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Native Americans have served in every major U.S. military encounter from the Revolutionary War to today’s conflicts in the Middle East in higher numbers, per capita, than any other U.S. ethnic group.
The exhibit Patriot Nations: Native Americans in Our Nation’s Armed Forces reveals the remarkable history of Native American veterans through art, photography and essay. The exhibition is being displayed at Holland City Hall, 270 S. River Ave., through Friday, Sept. 13, 2019.
Produced by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, the exhibition is made possible by the generous support of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and is hosted by the City of Holland Human Relations Commission.
A public reception honoring Holland-area Native veterans is set for 4-6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2019. in City Hall’s first-floor council chambers.
