HOLLAND (WTHC-AM/FM) — The Holland Openly Secular Alliance has two events on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019.
One is the weekly Peace Vigil, also called Stand for Peace — participants are encourage to bring a chair and sit, if needed
The Peace Vigil has two locations, is noon to 1 p.m. every Saturday, on the River Avenue side of Centennial Park and on the Washington Avenue side of Grand Haven’s Central Park. The vigil is a weekly reminder of the U.S. involvement in actions in seven countries, as well as those murdered in the U.S. HOSA will provide signs at each location for those who don’t have any.
Then, from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, HOSA will host its annual picnic at Fairbanks, between 16th and 13th streets.
This family friendly picnic is open to anyone of any religious or non-religious persuasion for a time of community.
The picnic will be on the 13th Street side of the park, and is a potluck featuring summer salads or other light fare. People are welcome to bring their own personal grilling items.
Attendees are invited to bring park-friendly games, or other outdoor hobby activities. The park includes a playground and skate park.
