HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — South Haven’s speaker series will continue its 2019 program in September, starting with former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm.
She’s scheduled to visit South Haven to take the podium and talk trends affecting Michigan. Her talk starts at 7:30 p.m., on Sept. 18, 2019, at South Haven High’s Listiak Auditorium. The school is at 600 Elkenburg St. in South Haven.
The series concludes with social psychologist David Meyer, whose talk is called, “Smart Thinking in A Post-Truth Age.” He’s set to speak at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 17, 2019, at South Haven High’s Listiak Auditorium. The school is at 600 Elkenburg St. in South Haven.
Since leaving office in 2011, Granholm has been involved in many activities including developing sustainability practices, teaching Public Policy at the University of California-Berkeley, and doing political analysis for CNN television.
Myers will share his insights, and examples, of popular and potent false beliefs, while explaining howthey develop. He will also examine possible biases–and successful remedies–within his own field of psychological science.
A long-time Hope College professor, Myers has authored articles in four dozen magazines and journals, and 17 books.
Admission is $10. Students, educators, and clergy are admitted free.
