Earlier this spring, I posted this on our blog here:
https://whtc.com/blogs/whtc-morning-news-blog/99/there-is-a-better-way/
Apparently, a local congregation has followed the lead of
Wichita’s Pathway Church in raising nearly $1.83 million dollars to forgive the
medical debts of about a thousand families in Ottawa, Allegan, Kent and Ionia
counties through the agency RIP Medical Debt. Pastor Sam Rijfkogel made the
announcement during yesterday’s service at
Grand Rapids First
in the
Grand Rapids suburb of Wyoming, saying that, “We can be Peacemakers. Just as
Jesus forgave and canceled the debt of our sins, we also canceled the debt of
those in our community.”
Just as I mentioned in that earlier blog post: “That is more in keeping with His Word than any attacks, verbal or actual, against those who don’t believe in things that we do, or in trying to retaliate against those who attack us, verbally or actually, for what we believe in.”
Bravo to both congregations for their efforts.
Thanks!
