Bruce Sturing, age 70, passed away on Friday morning, June 28, 2019.
Bruce was a graduate of Holland Christian High School and Calvin College. He was most recently employed at Gall Sewing and Vacuum Center. He loved the great outdoors, was an avid hunter, and enjoyed traveling to serve and see the world. Bruce was a faithful servant to the church and community throughout his entire life. He gave of himself freely as deacon and elder at First Christian Reformed Church, where he also served as Sunday school teacher and valet for older members. He invested his time in the Boys Scouts of America, West Ottawa Science Olympiad, the Bridge Student Ministries, as a reading mentor at Roosevelt Elementary, and helped to build schools in the Dominican Republic. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by many.
Bruce was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Lorrin Tien.
Bruce is survived by his siblings; Jean and Bob Vroom, Mark and Betsy Sturing, Mary Tien; nieces and nephews, Michelle and Brent Baker, Tim and Jenny Vroom, Sara Sturing, Ryan Sturing, Bob and Jennifer Tien; great-nieces and nephews, Jacob Baker, Ellie Baker, Eli Vroom, Willow Vroom, Zander Vroom; and those near and dear to his heart, especially the Reamer family.
Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 pm on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State St. Zeeland, MI 49464.
Funeral services are at 11:00 am on Monday, July 1 at First Christian Reformed Church, 15 S. Church St. Zeeland, MI 49464 with the Rev. Tom Pettinga officiating.
Burial to take place in Zeeland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Bruce asked that donations be given to Hospice of Holland.
