HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Police are looking for a man who broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home in Otsego, brandishing a gun and demanding she shoot him.
The incident started just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2019, according to Allegan County Sheriff’s authorities, on the 500 block of Lincoln Road in Otsego Township.
The woman called 911, telling dispatched the man had broken in through the self-contained basement of her home.
He does not live there, and police said he has no legel connection to the home.
Deputies from the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office and police from Otsego and Plainwell arrived on scene and maintained a perimeter as the woman was on the phone with dispatchers. She was unsure if he was still in the basement or not.
A surveillance camera at the home didn’t show suspect getting back into the basement; a robot deployed by the Sheriff’s office couldn’t get through the basement, and a K-9 unit, followed by deputies, found no trace of the man.
But police found the gun the woman described, along with what appeared to be drugs. Police searched the rest of the home without finding the suspect.
Allegan County Sheriff’s officials say the suspect — whose name is not being released until he’s arrested and arraigned — will face multiple charges related to this incident.
Police were assisted by Life EMS.
